Colorado-based Sunflower Farmers Market opening branch on Henderson Avenue in East Dallas

10

— Colorado-based Sunflower Farmers Market will open a store at 1800 Henderson Avenue in East Dallas, not far from Ross, in what used to be a Carnival Food Store that's been sitting vacant for more than two years.

It's a big coup for Lower Greenville residents what with Whole Foods ditching the area for Lakewood, and it makes the already-emerging Henderson Avenue more happening than ever.

Another Sunflower is going into an ex-Albertson's at Preston and West Parker in Plano that'll open later this year, and the chain plans to open half a dozen more stores in the Dallas area in the next couple of years.

Wow, Whole Foods is moving 6 whole blocks. They're really abandoning the neighborhood.

huh really, is it only six blocks from greenville & belmont to gaston & abrams? seems a lot farther than that

regardless of distance, i think the departure of whole foods from greenville avenue is a big deal because lots of folks in that neighborhood walk to WF to get food. i sure don't see them walking all the way over to the middle of lakewood

1.1 miles. Strictly speaking, I'd call it eight long blocks.

Some of us (well, me and Brad) are in Seattle. So it's only mildly ridiculously late.

We'll see you and the oppressive TX heat again tomororrow.

This is exciting news. I admit that I took the original announcement with a grain of salt given that the best laid plans (especially in Real Estate) often fall through at the last minute. However, there is real hope with this one. Sunflower has even erected a "coming soon" sign outside the property. Hopefully we will start to see more signs of renovation in the near future.
