Repairs to I-30 bridge deck over Trinity River in Dallas County to grind on until July 31

— The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will continue making repairs to the I-30 bridge deck over the Trinity River in Dallas County. Until July 31, the two right lanes of westbound I-30, from just west of the Mixmaster in downtown Dallas to Beckley, will be closed. In addition, the westbound I-30 entrance ramp at Industrial will be closed.

Motorists can expect nightly lane closures along this 2-mile stretch of westbound I-30 from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. Project construction is expected to take approximately 30 more days.

The bridge deck repair for this $1.4 million project includes sawing out the existing concrete and removing it, forming the bridge bottom, then pouring the concrete and allowing it to set. One lane of I-30 will remain open to the traveling public at all times.

"Rather than react to a pothole during rush hour traffic, we are trying to be proactive in repairing this bridge deck where noticeable potholes have occurred," said David Lott, the Central Dallas County area engineer for TxDOT. "This work is taking care of potential problem areas to ensure the bridge deck will last."

Message boards announcing the lane closures have been placed along the highway and frontage roads to provide information to motorists.

Average daily traffic on these bridges consists of about 75,000 vehicles. TxDOT would like to apologize in advance for any inconvenience, and thank area drivers, local businesses, and the City of Dallas for their continued patience and cooperation as TxDOT and Gibson & Associates, Inc. work diligently to complete this project as soon, and as safely as possible.
