UPDATED: “Human fetus” found in Dallas not a fetus
Officials from the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office are examining the contents of a plastic bag found in the 10700 block of Shady Trail to determine whether said contents are a human fetus or not.
Forgive me for being skeptical, but a couple of red flags go up for me here. First, the initial responders to the scene "were unable to determine the contents of the bag." Second, we've seen this kind of story before. If this turns out to be more rotten food, I'm officially taking fetuses (feti?) off the list of something the average human can recognize.
UPDATE: The DMN story has been updated to reflect that, surprise!, the "fetus" wasn't a fetus after all. Strangely, the medical examiner declined to specify what exactly the fetus-like substance was. A call to the M.E.'s office was met with a terse response of "It was non-human remains" and an invitation to request a copy of the "autopsy report" if I wanted more information. Not sure why it's such a big secret -- stay tuned for more details.
