UPDATED: Watauga teen gets into more trouble while performing community service hours

— Watauga teen Christian Phillips went the extra mile yesterday while performing court ordered community service for Mothers Against Drunk Driving. Phillips allegedly delivered candy and cookies to several police departments in the DFW area sprinkled with a little extra love. In other words, marijuana and LSD.

While officers with the Blue Mound and Lake Worth Police Departments sniffed before they ate, prompting on the spot testing of the goodies, at least three Fort Worth Officers dove right in. No word yet on how much fun they had.

UPDATE: Who, you ask, would be stupid enough to deliver drug laced cookies to police officers? Uh…nobody. Especially not Watauga teenager Christian Phillips, who was arrested Tuesday on felony charges of tampering with a consumer product. While preliminary, or field test, resulted in positives for both LSD and marijuana, the real lab test showed no traces of any illegal ingredients. While news of the incident garnered Christian world wide attention, it is unlikely a public apology will be forthcoming any time soon.

Scott Miller, says:

The cookies were allegedly laced with marijuana and LSD.

The DMN story says "...scientific tests revealed no traces of narcotics."

I guess you can't expect three DMN reporters to know the difference.

...and how exactly is a local PD going to test for presence of a drug that is measured in micrograms? And get the answer in a couple of hours?

Pavel Lishin, says:

"Authorities said then that "field tests" they conducted on the cookies showed traces of marijuana and LSD."

There's only one "field test" I know of they could perform, and that's just about awesome. I hope they put their guns away, first.

Local radio hosts reported the boy was merely smoking while bakeing and drug dogs picked up a scent. Not sure how much weight to put into that statement. If so, Dad must be very proud, but at least relieved.

With the rumor mill in high speed, this boy may have to move out of state.

My lovely attorney bride, who did some time working in SMU Law's Criminal Law Clinic was shocked to hear this kid had been booked based on field testing of the "stuff" -- notoriously unreliable.

This would make for a great episode of Southpark. Or Keystone Cops - if it were still in production.
