Group of 10 robbers steals ATM from Dallas convenience store

Email Print Tell us your story Comment (1)

— A group of 10 people who stole an ATM from a convenience store in the 9500 block of Scyene Road on Wednesday night may be part of a big ATM ring, it appears.

Seven entered the mini mart wearing ski masks and bandannas. Two had semi-automatic handguns. Three others were drivers. An employee pulled the bandanna (which the DMN oddly misspells as "bandana". Twice. OK so maybe the writer can't spell but don't they have editors?) off one of the robbers and recognized him as a customer.

Anyway, they hauled off the ATM with a Plymouth van and then sped off in the van, a Ford Crown Victoria, and a Nissan. The owner has had two other ATMs stolen from the store, one three weeks ago.

When the cops tracked down the thieves, they came upon a house with three more ATM machines inside. So they think it might be an "ATM chop shop". Who's heard of that?

You'd think between 10 people they'd diversify the locations of stolen ATM's a bit better.

Then again, we're talking about people who steal ATM's.

The Magnetic Fields Quartet led by songwriter Stephen Merritt is resolutely "indie" so how come their music has been used in a Volvo commercial and appeared in the film Lemony Snicket? More info
