Irving ISD looking into increasing pay for substitute teachers
At its most recent meeting last month, the Irving ISD School Board considered increasing the pay for substitute teachers.
They discussed increasing the base daily rate of pay for substitutes and adding an additional substitute category to "take advantage of talents and skills of former IISD teachers."
The current and proposed rates are below. If approved, the pay would increase $5/day for subs who are non-degreed and degreed (but no certification). For degreed subs who also have a valid teaching certificate, the pay would increase $3/day. A new category would provide compensation former Irving ISD teachers (must possess a degree and valid teaching certificate) at $85/day.
