UT Arlington one of only 25 campuses to host ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Summer Science Camp

Students will get hands-on experience in math and science, particularly how to fudge oil-funded global warming studies.

According to a Congressional task force study, the United States will have a shortage of more than 500,000 engineers, scientists and other technically trained workers by the year 2010, so it is essential to start educating youth in the math and science fields in early grades in order to engage and retain students’ interest in these disciplines.

Students will also partake in exciting math activities such as: reducing coastlines to inhospitable catastrophes, litigating to reduce responsibility for said catastrophes and, also, cooking global warming data in favor of big biz.

For the third year, former NASA astronaut Bernard Harris and ExxonMobil are partnering to provide academic enrichment camps on university campuses.

The camps, which are free of charge, are offered to selected middle-school students who are academically qualified, recommended by their teachers and genuinely interested in math and science.

UT Arlington was selected as a camp host because of its long-standing commitment to math and science education and its efforts to support and promote local community youth in these disciplines.

The camp has 48 students and will run July 14 through 25. For more information about the ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Summer Science Camps, please visit www.theharrisfoundation.org.
