North Texas officially attains drought status

Woo hoo! Pass the sunscreen.

It's just what we weather complainers have been waiting for: official confirmation of what we already knew. It's dry, I tell ya, DRY! And getting drier every moment it doesn't rain. (Like now, for instance.)

So dry, in fact, that the U.S. Drought Monitor is now showing parts of North Texas to be abnormally dry (though not yet perversely dry, or even aberrantly dry), while regions to our west and south have already attained moderate to extreme drought status. (Congratulations to those over-achievers.) And here it is only mid-July, with plenty of hot, dry weather to come.

I just love complaining about the weather, because there's no way anyone could expect me to do anything about it. Right?

It's cool, everyone seems to be dealing with it by turning on sprinklers in the rain.
