Considered to be too short for basketball, Randi Miller joined the wrestling squad at Arlington Martin High School. The 5'2" athlete finished second in the state her senior year (2000-01) and continued to practice her craft in college before moving on to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. After upsetting the 2004 freestyle wrestling silver medalist, Sara McMann, in the U.S. Olympic trials, Miller's ultimate test is to beat Japan's Kaori Icho, who has 17 gold medals spanning a spanning 19 international competitions.

I knew Randi in high school and am so happy for her! I remember her being incredibly hard working and she definitely deserves this. Good luck in the August!

Randi is out of gold medal contention after getting pinned by the returning Olympic champion, Kaori Icho. She could still get a bronze, but she has to win her next two matches.
