The Colony Parks and Recreation Department hosts second annual Back to School Bash

THE COLONY — Get ready for back to school with The Colony Parks and Recreation Department’s Back to School Bash. Join us for this fun filled evening Tuesday, Aug. 19 from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m., complete with free school supplies and lots of helpful information for the upcoming school year.

Children and their parents will be welcomed by over 30 vendors representing various businesses, churches and organizations. Giveaways will include notebooks, binders, pencils, pencil boxes and numerous other promotional items.

“We were thrilled with last year’s inaugural event, having an opportunity to serve nearly 600 children was simply amazing.” said Emily Fox, Special Events Coordinator for The Colony Parks and Recreation Department.

According to Fox the Parks and Recreation Department is again hoping to service 600 children in The Colony. However in an effort to help with the large crowd PARD is requiring that anyone planning to attend the event be pre-registered. Space is limited to the first 600 children ages 5-12 to pre-register at the recreation center.

In addition to school supplies, children who attend will receive free child ID kits and information about recreation center programs including a performance by the Recreation Center’s Panther All-Star Cheer Squads. A Creation Station sponsored by Horizons Church will also allow children to express their creativity through a unique craft project.

“Just based on the numbers from last year we know this event is popular with our citizens. Our entire staff is working to prepare and execute the Back to School Bash. We love to offer these types of opportunities to our community,” said Fox.

Registration is now open for the Back to School Bash for students PreK-8th grade at The Colony Recreation Center, 5151 North Colony Boulevard. Limited space is available. The Back to School Bash will be Aug. 19 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Registration will be accepted until Aug. 18 or until space is filled. For more information contact PARD at 972-625-1106.
