In June 2008, DART saw 10.3 million total trips on its buses, trains and HOV lanes, making it the biggest month ever for the transit agency, topping May's record of 10.28 million trips.
Both DART Rail (69,861 trips) and the Trinity Railway Express (11,105 trips) posted their highest-ever average weekday ridership totals. DART Rail was up 14.2% over June 2007 and the TRE was up 19.8% over the same period.
Commuters continue sharing the ride in the HOV lanes. There were more than 4.5 million trips made in the expanded HOV-lane system.
That number, when combined with ridership on other DART services, yielded a 20.1% increase in ridership over June 2007.

Good for everyone. I hope DTCA follows the DART example (spending the money to build a true mass transit system) versus the Houston METRO system (fancy trolly-cars which are magnets for traffic accidents).

Though I think DCTA is on the right track (pun intended), I'm not sure DART is the shining model of mass transit others should look to.
