A late-night driver smashed into the Dubliner Pub on Greenville Avenue, reports Frontburner. According to the police report, a suspect driving a black 2003 Nissan at 2:54 a.m. Thursday evaded arrest when a police officer attempted to conduct traffic stop. Some of the comments offer funny suggestions for alternate headlines ("an Irishman drives into a bar" etc.)
Aside from the tragedy of smashing a cool old building, it's quite a feat for someone to smash into the front of that particular place, given that it's offset from the street by an entire parking lot which is a regular motorcycle hangout and on Sundays is the weekly meetup spot for Dallas' Vespa cult.

Horrible news. I was going to stop in for a pint this evening as well. So if the Dubliner is closed does this mean Capitol Pub will have drink specials for Dub refugees?

Just heard the traffic dude on KERA 90.1 report that the Dubliner was scheduled to re-open at 5 p.m. today - but a quickie call straight to the source confirms that they are open as we speak. Get some!

Back in the mid-eighties this establishment was called the Saloon- it was in this bar that I first stepped on stage. Lots-o-memories.
Didn't know it was a drive thru.

Shockingly, it turns out that this guy and I share a name: http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedconte.... True, there's a one letter difference (it's spelled "sOn", not "sEn"!), but we even have the same middle initial! So, on behalf of myself, the guy who played the dwarf on Twin Peaks and the director of noted sci-fi flick Logan's Run, which was filmed in Fort Worth, I'd just like to say that this clown is a disgrace to the name and has officially lost his name privileges. Please turn it in to authorities along with your driver's license, your liberty and your ability to drive a pick up at 3am along a service road. Thank you.
