Dali Wine Bar & Cellar, located at One Arts Plaza, has set in motion a plan to recycle wine and Champagne corks that have been recently popped during daily service. The source and navigating company behind recycling of these corks is Yemm & Hart LTD from Fredericktown Missouri—with corks being put to good use.
All corks received at Yemm & Hart are unpacked and sorted into pure cork and non-cork material. The non-cork material is donated to an area teacher's recycling center, so kids get a chance to be creative with it. This is an expensive manual process that adds value to the collected corks. The pure cork is then weighed and recorded by each restaurant's name. The attractive ending result for many of these recycled corks is none other than….cork floor tiles. More information regarding Yemm & Hart can be viewed here.
"Guests can quickly look at our entrance counter and main bar to view our commitment to recycling natural corks," states Dali owner and General Manager, Paul Pinnell. "It’s not only corks, but all things sustainable and natural that makes up the core of the Dali culture—driven by the freshest of artisanal products."

Thanks for spreading the word about recycled cork!
Cork bottle stoppers are the main production of Amorim (the world leader in cork oak manufacturing and the people behind ReCORK America), yet any remaining materials from the stopper production process are incorporated into other high-value applications such as Wicanders flooring.
Wicanders cork oak floors represent a generations-old balance between environmental conservation, creation of wealth, and social development that benefits millions of people worldwide. Their manufacturing process is practically waste-free. Pieces of cork oak that cannot be incorporated into products are used as biomass and are converted into fuel as an energy source. Therefore, there is no waste and no cork oak residue– nothing is discarded, everything is transformed.
