City of Rockwall to set up downtown farmers market
Taking a page from neighboring locally-grown markets, the City of Rockwall has announced its plans to begin a regular Farmers Market.
The Friends of Downtown Rockwall and the City of Rockwall will sponsor the market, set in the Downtown Square at the corner of Rusk and Goliad streets in the parking lot of the County Courthouse.
The market will operate on Saturdays from July 19 through August 23 from 8 a.m. until noon.
Rockwall decided to start up a regular market market after the market booth at the city’s annual Founder’s Day celebration in May was such a success. Members of the Friends of Downtown Rockwall and city officials also visited other cities in the surrounding area that have successfully operated such a project, and likewise hopes to attract home-grown items along with organic products.
Growers will be charged $10 to rent a 10’ x 10’ space for each market day.
