Cavalli Pizza in Irving succumbs to obvious and opens on Saturdays after all
What kind of pizza place shuts down on Saturdays?
IRVING The folks from Cavalli Pizza in Irving have put an end to their redonkulous policy of being closed on Saturdays.
"After receiving so many requests, we have decided to open 7 days a week starting July 28, 2008," says the email.
Admittedly, the authentic-Italian pizzeria is semi-in-the-middle-of-nowhere, in a new shopping center in a business neighborhood. Adjacent restaurants in the center aren't yet open and are still under construction. And yes, this is a mom-and-pop and who wants to work seven days a week. But jeez, wouldn't a customer expect a surburban pizza joint to be open on a Saturday night? Not that I recently drove all the way out there on a Saturday night only to find the place closed. It's nothing like that. Nothing like that at all. But here's a nod to the I Fratelli nearby that DOES keep predictable hours.
Here's the new hours, which make much more sense:
Monday-Saturday: 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and 5 p.m.-9 p.m.
Sunday: 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
The only other thing they might consider is to stay open an hour or so later on Friday and Saturday nights, like most other restaurants do. (God forbid.) Although this IS the suburbs; maybe it all shuts down after 9 p.m.? Doubt it, but maybe.
