Farmers Branch moves National Night Out forward to cooler Oct. 7 instead of Aug. 5
FARMERS BRANCH Yielding to the Texas heat, the National Association of Town Watch has designated the 2008 local edition of National Night Out for Tuesday, Oct. 7. This change is for Texas only and represents a "test" year for the later date. The remainder of the country will observe the annual “Night Out Against Crime” on Tuesday, Aug. 5. Farmers Branch Police Chief Sid Fuller said that Community Watch volunteers are busy organizing neighborhood block parties that hope to take advantage of the potentially cooler weather in October.
Additionally, in order to encourage participation at the Oct. 7 NNO celebration, the Farmers Branch City Council has moved their meeting, originally scheduled for that night, to Monday, Oct. 6. For more information on National Night Out, call 972-919-9304.
