Rowlett had a brush fire on Tuesday afternoon
Rowlett firefighters were able to completely contain it, and there were no reports of injury.
ROWLETT Rowlett firefighters were able to completely contain a brush fire that started at about 1 p.m. on Tuesday July 22. The cause of the fire has not been determined, but it was contained to an uninhabited area near the east shore of Lake Ray Hubbard at the intersection of Kirby Road and Harborview.
No evacuation was ordered and there were no reports of injury. Rowlett dispatched three brush trucks, two engines, and 12 firefighters. The Rowlett Public Works Department also provided a bulldozer to provide a make-shift access road to the main area of the fire since it was inaccessible from a main street.
The Rowlett Citizen Emergency Response Team (CERT) made up of citizen volunteers arrived on the scene with their Rehab Response Trailer to provide water, fruit, and dinner to the firefighters as they battled the blaze in triple digit temperatures for more than five hours.
