The Lakewood Advocate takes its obsession with the new Whole Foods Market being built at the corner of Abrams and Gaston in Dallas' Lakewood area to new heights with a 24-7 Webcam where viewers can ostensibly monitor day-to-day construction, but also stalkobserve coming and going traffic. The link to said Webcam is coming up but BE FOREWARNED that the mere act of opening it not only crashed my Internet Explorer, but also came close to shutting down my whole computer. Thanks, guys at Lakewood Advocate. Anyway, here it is, tread carefully, maybe don't click on it at all, the link to their 24-7 Whole Foods Webcam.

IE? I'm so sad for you, TGub.
Also, wonder how the general contractor in charge of the project feels about this.

I, for one, vote we unfurl a PEGASUS NEWS banner on that bit of rooftop under the camera.

Good idea Teresa.
I could be the wheel man. I've been told I look better in a ski mask. The Doyle and Pavel can do the deed while I blast the theme from the Pink Panther from my truck stereo. I'll be a hoot!

The Lakewood area has such a strange strong emotional connection to this Whole Foods.
The Minyards was a POS - even my mom who shops at an IGA in Rosebush, MI (an Amish community) declared it worst grocery she has ever stepped into. Anything is better.
So Whole Foods said we're moving over.
People bitched about missing the sorta hole-in-wall WF on lower Greenville. They bitched about how long it took to start construction. Then they bitched when Whole Foods decided to scale back the original plan.
And NOW a webcam.
Like my mom says: "Bitch, Bitch, Piss and Moan".

Any word on why, exactly, they put up a webcam?

On mac, using Safari, the java-powered webcam monitoring software made my hard drive grumble and slowed my whole machine.
Yikes, that's one terrible applet.
Good picture quality, though.

It's been a long wait for that store to open, meanwhile the Minyard's (it was a terrible place) is closed, so shoppers drive to Abrams and Mockingbird to the Tom Thumb, or to the Albertson's at Garland Road and Buckner (where you can't purchase wine or beer--back to Mockingbird and Abrams!). I think they are just impatient to see if any actual progress is being made, or if they are destined to keep staring at that boarded up building and closed off parking lot. Yet another guess might be that the Whole Foods chain has been telling the Advocate that they'll open a new store, but are still haggling over parking space or something.
