Fort Worth City Council to authorize multiple mineral rights leases and pipelines at Tuesday’s council meeting
The Fort Worth City Council will meet Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. for a regular city council session. The session will include a zoning hearing and will be followed by an executive session in council chambers with attorneys to discuss any legal issues or pending litigation. Yes, this means one room full of lawyers and politicians. I know you're thinking about how much good clean and honest fun that will be, but the session is closed. Sorry kids, maybe next time. For the regular session, some of the items to be discussed are as follows:
- The City Manager will be authorizing two full-time positions to the Municipal Court to help with the Automated Red Light Enforcement Program. If you're thinking of running a red light, they will process your ticket faster with the new person hours.
- They will also authorize the Water Department to give Ms. Sheila M. Kennedy-Jordan in Haslet sewer and water service. Those are two biggies. Congratulations, Ms. Kennedy-Jordan. You're getting water! (Although they are charging her a premium as long as the property is outside city limits. Hey, it beats going in the bushes if you ask me.)
- The council will authorize the loan and payment to TxDoT of about $4.7 million to construct East Rosedale Street from IH 35 to US Highway 287. Holy shoot, that's a lot of money for a road that's only about a mile.
- The council will be approving a lot of lease agreements with Chesapeake and will be getting 25% royalties of everything Chesapeake sucks out of the ground. They will also be authorizing a few pipeline agreements. Obviously Fort Worth has gas, and they're not afraid to use it!
- The meeting will wrap up with a presentation by Mr. Joe Don Brandon of Slum Lord Ministries in Fort Worth. This should be interesting... Slum Lord Ministries turns up nothing in a google search. From what I can tell, Mr. Brandon apparently asked the City of Fort Worth to ban the "n" word last year. He also requested to address the city council of Euless a few times back in 2005, but never showed up. Apparently he also owns some antique license plate. See, now I'm all curios to see if Mr. Brandon will show up and what he will be presenting.
