Soldiers from Wylie’s National Guard Armory left for Iraq Monday
On Monday, July 28, soldiers from Wylie’s National Guard Armory left for Iraq. Support groups are residents of Wylie and the surrounding communities showed their support by lining the roadway, waving American flags and displaying yellow ribbons. According to information from the Army, the soldiers departed from the Wylie Armory at 7:30 a.m. traveling from Spring Creek Parkway south down Highway 78 to Ballard Avenue, turning right on South Ballard and proceed through the downtown area. They then turned right onto Brown Street and then headed back toward Highway 78, taking a left on Highway 78 and heading toward Lavon, Texas. They turned on Highway205 and came through Downtown Rockwall at approximately 8:15 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. The Rockwall American Legion planned to have American flags out on the Rockwall Downtown square as a show of support for the departing soldiers.
