Denton Municipal Electric and Interfaith Ministries of Denton, Inc partner to supply fans for customers in need

Priority will be given to those with elderly or medically fragile household members.

— Denton Municipal Electric and Interfaith Ministries of Denton, Inc. have partnered to provide box fans to customers in need in the Denton community. The box fans, sponsored by DME, are available at the Interfaith Ministries of Denton, Inc. offices located at 109-A W. Sycamore.

To receive a box fan, DME customers may phone Interfaith Ministries at (940) 565-5479 or may come by the Interfaith Office. Priority will be given to those with elderly or medically fragile household members. Picture identification and a copy of a current DME bill will be required of all fan recipients.

“With triple digit temperatures being recorded, Interfaith Ministries is responding to a growing need in our community,” said Lisa Lemons, Community Relations Manager for DME. “We understand that there are people at risk of overheating in our community due to lack of sufficient air conditioning. A box fan is a much needed alternative.”

Interfaith Ministries, Inc. also distributes funds for the City of Denton’s P-L-U-S One (Prevent Loss of Utility Service) Program. The P-L-U-S One Program provides assistance to utility customers who are having a hard time paying utility bills. Interfaith Ministries has seen a significant increase in requests for this program due to higher temperatures.

“Higher costs for gasoline, food, and basic family needs, along with higher summer temperatures has increased the number of area families unable to meet their utility expenses,” stated Condell Garden, Executive Director of Interfaith Ministries. “By contributing $1 per month, less than the cost of a cup of coffee, area residents can help hardship-stricken families maintain their utility service.” For more information about the box fans or P-L-U-S One Program, please call Interfaith Ministries of Denton, Inc., at (940) 565-5479.
