Texas Rangers 11, Seattle Mariners 10

ARLINGTON — The Texas Rangers blew an early 7-0 led but still ultimately triumphed in Tuesday night's slugfest, beating the Seattle Mariners 11-10 at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. The win improves the Rangers to 55-52 on the year.

Texas was leading 9-8 heading into the top of the ninth inning, but troubled closer C.J. Wilson could not get the job done, giving up two runs to put Texas down 10-9. One of those two runs was a direct result of third baseman Ramón Vázquez's throwing error, his third error of the night. The Rangers had a total of five errors over the course of the game.

Vázquez made up for it in the bottom of the ninth, however, when he smacked a double off Seattle closer J.J. Putz that drove in Gerald Laird and Chris Davis. Vázquez finished 4-for-5 with the double and four RBI, and is hitting .320 on the season.

Several other Rangers had huge days, as the team collected a total of 18 hits. Besides Vázquez, four other Rangers had three-hit nights and one more collected two. Marlon Byrd went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, two runs scored and four RBI, while Gerald Laird went 3-for-4 with two runs, a double and an RBI.

Josh Hamilton went 3-for-5 with two runs scored, while fellow All-Star slugger Milton Bradley went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a run and an RBI. Rookie phenom Chris Davis rounded out the Texas multi-hitters with a 2-for-5 performance, scoring twice.

Michael Young did not collect a hit but did walk and later score, just one day removed from an injury most figured would cause Young to miss several games.
