A recent federal audit of the Dallas Housing Authority revealed that the agency had spent over $20 million in incorrect rental assistance payments, including payments to 45 people who had ceased to exist (i.e. they were dead).
Hey, honest mistake. I'm sure none of the dead people's relatives actually spent said money, right?
UPDATE: Wow, busy day for the DHA: President Ann Lott resigned unexpectedly Tuesday, which may or may not (but probably did) have to do with the audit that revealed $20 million in incorrect payments.
