The GEM E-4 in all its glory.
Hooray -- Earth-loving people fed up by high gas prices will soon be able to purchase an all-electric vehicle from a business solely dedicated to selling electric cars. The catch, of course, is that two of the cars that will be sold, the GEM (which can be already be found locally) and ZENN, are so-called NEVs, or Neighborhood Electric Vehicles, meaning that although they are street legal, they can only drive on streets with posted speed limits of 35 mph or below.
Owner Dennis Wheeler also plans to sell something called the EGA-2, a car similar to the Smart Car which can supposedly reach 75 mph, but such a car cannot be found by Google. The DMN cites Green Vehicles as a source, but Green doesn't list it on their site, either. Perhaps it's so earth-friendly because it's invisible.

It's actually kinda cool. I keep seeing this guy driving the electric car all around Dallas streets. People actually stop him and ask about the car -- including me! He said to go to greenvehiclesoftexas.com for more info. Mystery solved!

EGA = Electric Green Auto. EGA1 is on their site, EGA2 is, I would suspect, forthcoming.
