Dallas County constables allegedly overstated workload to get more staffers
DALLAS — Dallas County officials say that constables for the county have been overstating their workload so that they'll get more staffers.
The example cited is the idea of a constable going to one location and issuing 50 lawsuits, and then counting that as 50 when it was really just one visit. A spokesman for the constables said that it takes time to fill out that paperwork. But the county is going to start auditing the constables' work, and the staff may get cut instead of increased. Backfired!

Admittedly, story made me smile a bit.
Damn Dallas County constable cited me for expired inspection the very day I was taking my car into the shop for repairs (was concerned it wouldn't pass without 'em). Typically not a big deal, but their office is in east Dallas and I work 25 miles away. =(
Cost of gas and 2 hours in the Justice of the Peace office pissed me off pretty well. Especially after he explained that he was on a task force cutting down on fake inspection stickers. If were going to forge the damn thing, why would I forge an expired one?
