Dallas Morning News triples distribution of Spanish-language publication Al Dia

Oh goody, now there'll be three times as many people that don't read the thing.

The Dallas Morning News is expanding distribution of its Spanish-language newspaper Al Dia. An additional 80,000 copies will be distributed, which triples the previous circulation of 40,000.

The press release has a bunch of yada-yada about responding to "North Texas' ever-growing Spanish-speaking population and the increased demand for Spanish-language news and information" before getting to the good part: which is that the bump "also provides an avenue for advertisers who want to target the Latino community and Spanish-speaking consumers."

"North Texas' ever-growing Spanish-speaking population" I recall something like this heppening once before. Oh yea, in 1836.

I'd be happy if this showed up on my doorstep. My birdcages need new liners, and the parrots would enjoy the brightly colored ads!

I live in Plano, TX. I am sorry to see that Dallas Morning News plans to expand the coverage for Al Dia. As far as I am concerned, it is just litter. I have called several times to ask that they not throw litter in my front yard, yet it keeps coming. Also, there are others on the street where I live that never pick up that litter. While I can't control all litter in my neighborhood, I am hope to control this.

This might be a very valuable publication for the Spanish speaking population in the Dallas area (I don't know because I do not read Mexican). If it is, how about distributing it in the paper stands like other free publications.
