Fort Worth sexual assault suspect cornered by angry neighbors
The man set fire to mattress as a diversion to expedite his escape.
The mother of the girl who Jeremy Dontae Craft is accused of punching in the face and sexually assaulting spotted him ambling down a Fort Worth street on Thurs (May 29) and began chasing him. She was soon joined by a host of neighbors (a.k.a. "concerned citizens") who proceeded to chase him into the Prima Vera apartment complex on E. Berry St.
Mr. Craft holed up in an apartment and when the mob (I mean, group of concerned citizens) seemed bent on conversing with him face-to-face, he set fire to a mattress in order to create a diversion while he scrambled out a side window. Amazingly, it worked.
Craft remains at large, with police (and concerned citizens) on the lookout for him.
