The Rangers finished May with a 19-10 record, the most wins Texas has had in a month since 1983. The Rangers currently have an impressive 14-9 mark against their divisional foes thus far this year.

Rangers starter Sidney Ponson was credited for the win, pitching seven solid innings against Oakland. Ponson gave up four runs off nine hits, but was pounding the strike zone all night, striking out four and walking none. Ponson is now 4-1 with a 3.83 ERA.

Several Rangers hitters had excellent days at the plate. Major league RBI leader Josh Hamilton added three more RBI to his gaudy totals, hitting a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth and knocking in Michael Young to start off the day with an RBI groundout. Hamilton now has 61 RBI, comfortably in first place in the RBI race.

Young went 3-for-4 with two runs, an RBI and a triple, and was able to extend his hitting streak to 16 games. Ian Kinsler went 3-for-5 with a run and two RBI.

Frank Catalanatto also had a great day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored, while catcher Gerald Laird contributed a 2-for-4 performance, also with two runs scored.
