As gas prices rise, so do empty tank calls to Dallas County Courtesy Patrol
Some drivers have legitimate reasons to be stranded. Purposely running out of gas is not one of them.
As the average price of gas in Dallas clings to a record high of $3.85 a gallon, many residents are pushing their gas tanks to the limit. Dallas County's Courtesy Patrol is reporting a 30-40% rise in empty tank calls from stranded drivers. Generally, the courtesy patrol will go to the scene and give the driver enough gas to get to the nearest gas station. Some drivers, however, are taking advantage of the free gas by calling before their tank is empty. Many are even repeat callers.

Come on, people. Cost of gas is the cost of owning a car. We've gone over this. :(

Concur, but I doubt many people foresaw gas increasing 27% since this time last year (having once snarled at $3 a gallon, I kinda miss it now).
Doesn't mean you try and get half a gallon from the city - is it really worth your time?

A few years ago the information available was that "the powers that be" planned to increase the cost of oil to ( a way-out-of-sight figure at that time ) $100 a barrel.
Obviously greed knows no boundries...and here we are.
My full size pickup had dual tanks and I always kept them both full...for over 10 years.
I now have a smaller pickup and recently find I have to try to keep it's one tank barely half-full.

I guess depends on who you are. I'd rather spend the time working than sitting on the side of the road, but I have a joerb.

Yeah, greedy us for wanting to fuel up at less than $3.00/gallon. Oh yeah, and greedy us for not allowing drilling off the coast of Florida and California, or in ANWAR.

Yeah, greedy us for ripping off a helpful service that's meant for people that are actually in need.

My statement of 'greed knowing no boundries' indicated nothing about us not wanting to pay $3 a gallon or more, nor did it reference not drilling.
Of course, we don't want to pay outrageous prices for gasoline. That's not greed. It also is not greedy to not want drilling where there is no need to drill - such as in places you mention.
So since you aren't referencing anything I said, what are you referencing with my quote?

Kay, shhh! Can't you see, he's looking for a flag to wrap his avatar in. Don't bother him with details. And I'm thinking we want that avatar wrapped.
Now, you were saying... Something about personal irresponsibility at the public cost? Go ahead. Please.
