Heath city council to screen Shattered Dreams prior to business meeting
Heath city council members will meet at City Hall as usual this Tuesday (June 3), but - not like usual - the civic get-together will start with a film screening.
Called Shattered Dreams, it's not the kind of movie they'll want to kick back and munch popcorn while watching. Rather, it appears to be a scare 'em straight sort of manifesto directed at teens about the dangers of drinking and driving. (I could throw in a Heath Bar crack here, but that would be in poor taste. Right?)
Following this wake-up-and-smell-the-alcohol shocker (which starts at 7 p.m.), there will be a 7:30 public hearing centering on discussion of the 2008 comprehensive plan for the city.
Then there will be consideration of a Homeowner's Association request to construct a gated entry to The Moraine, a high-dollar subdivision.
And finally, councilfolk will be briefed on potential development of a 75-acre tract in the E. Teal Survey Abstract (No. 207), presented by Alma Howard, Pres. of the Heath Educational Development Corporation.
With the modifier "potential" cozying up to "development" in a North Texas-related city planning story, I think we can predict which way this one's gonna go.
