Greater Dallas Business Ethics Awards presented at annual luncheon

The eighth annual awards presentation was held on May 21st.

DALLAS — Daisy Brand, Ellis Partners in Mystery Shopping and Wishbone Graphics, Inc. have been honored as the recipients of the 2008 Greater Dallas Business Ethics Awards. Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP and the Dallas Business Journal served as sponsors of the eighth annual awards presentation, held May 21.

Strangely, the winners of this year's Darwin Award did not show up to claim their trophy

Daisy Brand was honored in the mid-sized category. Ellis Partners in Mystery Shopping and Wishbone Graphics were co-recipients in the small company category. There were no large company submissions this year.

The Greater Dallas Business Ethics Award recognizes local corporations that have made a commitment to ethical business practices and demonstrate that commitment in their everyday operations, management philosophies and in response to crises or challenges.

“Each of these three companies is a terrific example of a business operating under ethical principals and doing the right thing for their company and the clients they serve. Their work reinforces the positive, ethical values of our local business community and beyond,” says Gary Morris, GDBEA founder and co-chair of the Awards committee.

Keynote speaker at the awards luncheon was Robert W. Best, CEO of Atmos Energy Corp., which was the first recipient of the award in 2001.

Other past winners include Castro Roofing of Texas, Community Management Associates, The Container Store, Dave & Buster’s, EDS, Fluor Corp., HKS, Regeneration Partners, TELOS Fitness Center, TXU and Weir’s Furniture Village. Several Dallas award winners have gone on to also win the national American Business Ethics Award, including EDS, TDIndustries and Trammell Crow Company. The Staubach Company received an ABEA honorable mention.
