There's nothing like a clown to help kids learn how to read.

There's nothing like a clown to help kids learn how to read.

After a highly successful inaugural year in 2006, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey and the Lancaster Veterans Memorial Library will be hosting some serious fun with “Reading with Ringling Bros.!” this summer. Everyone is invited to a free presentation by clowns Slappy and Monday at the Lancaster Veterans Memorial Library. Join the fun Tuesday, June 17 at 11:30 a.m.

The reading program is easy and fun for kids to participate. Children from ages 2-12 simply need to enroll at the library, where they will receive everything to start their summer reading, including bookmarks, clown noses, puzzles and coloring sheets. This unique library reading program will encourage children not only to read, but also to discover, dream and learn!

“Reading with Ringling Bros.” run concurrently with the library’s own Summer Reading Club. This year’s theme is Texas Jubilee. There are programs for children preschool through high school starting from June 3 to July 31. For more information on this program visit, www.ReadingwithRingling.com.

Top readers in each age group will win prizes:

Preschool to 1st grade – educational toy

2nd-6th grade – portable CD player

Teens – I-pod

All events at the library are free and open to the public. The library is located at 1600 Veterans Memorial Parkway, in the Lancaster Community Park. For more information, visit the library’s website at www.lancastertxlib.org, or call the library at 972-227-1080.
