Interview with Carol M. Rice, Director of Gilligan's Island: The Musical
Rover Dramawerks is one of Plano's dominant theater companies and they are about to present the regional premiere of Gilligan's Island: The Musical. Not only that, this is their first production of a musical and boy, is it a pretty exciting one. Carol M. Rice who is directing the piece is also Artistic Director for the theater company, so it was pretty appropriate to feature her this week.
We start off by talking about her career and how she became involved with Rover Dramawerks. She talks about its place in Plano, its mission statement, and I ask her what niche she sees the company filling in the DFW metroplex with so many theater companies around.

I ask about directing a musical and the challenges she has faced. She tells why she chose this as the company's first musical and how they managed to get it into the season. I ask if they see more musicals in their future seasons.
As always, I end by asking her what she wants the audience to feel after seeing the show.
