Semi truck crashes into McKinney car dealership

An 18-wheeler traveling southbound on N. Central Expressway crashed Thursday afternoon into multiple stationary vehicles at Bob Tomes Ford.

Amidst the heavy smell of leaking diesel fuel from one of the truck’s punctured fuel tanks, McKinney Police Sgt. Steve Riley said the Swift tractor-trailer operator, 45-year-old Eze Enyioko, apparently had a brake system malfunction that sent his rig careening off the expressway, across the southbound median and into a collection of new Ford F-150 pickups at around 5 p.m.

Sgt. Riley said he didn’t believe speed was a factor in the accident, though he did say high winds may have been a contributing factor.

Enyioko was initially pinned in the overturned truck until firefighters extracted him. The conscious Enyioko was transported to McKinnney Medical Center for precautionary evaluation.

Bob Tomes, owner of Tomes Ford, though grateful no employees or customers were injured in the freak accident, estimated property damage – including 13 vehicles – at around $500,000.

The truck was carrying a load of Oxy Deep Steam carpet cleaner. The blue bottles were strewn haphazardly around the accident scene.
