White Rock Hills robbers foiled by 911 call
WHITE ROCK HILLS The following message was circulated among residents of the White Rock Hills neighborhoods on Thursday:
As a fairly new member of the WRH assoc., I would like to inform you to what occurred in our neighborhood today. At approx. 11-11:30 am today, 3 young black males were noticed as suspicious activity on the southwest corner of Ripplewood Drive and Glenmont. Suddenly they were seen trying to kick in a back door of a house. A friendly neighbor saw this and immediately called 911. The Dallas police dept arrived within minutes and the 3 males took off running. Before you knew it, there were 6-7 police cars, a helicopter, and police dog that were combing the area looking for these individuals. Within a few minutes all three males were caught hiding in a nearby laundry mat.
However, the occupant of the house that was broken into was not at home and no one knew how to get in touch with them. Through the collaborative effort of a few of us surrounding neighbors, we assisted the Dallas police dept in tracking down this individual to let them know what had occurred. The Dallas police were extremely dependent on us to help them find the occupant of the home, otherwise they would have had to let the 3 males be released from custody because no one would have been available to press charges. If not for the efforts of the surrounding neighbors, this would have been just another crime committed by some useless thugs who would rather steal than earn an honest day's pay. WAY TO GO NEIGHBORS!!!! LET'S KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
If I may offer a suggestion, it would probably be good to let all members of the association know of each other's first/last name, physical address, and hopefully an emergency phone number to prevent something similar from occurring again in the future.
