Dallas County Democratic sweep galvanizes Texas GOP

— Though Texas is a GOP stronghold, Republicans are discussing threats to their power at their state convention in Houston, which started Thursday. Democratic victories in down-ballot races in Dallas County and Ron Paul, who has officially ended his Presidential bid to support candidates who agree with him on policy are uniting the party faithful. Governor Rick Perry Thursday urged support of McCain and other Republican candidates.

Well, the GOP can always go the nuclear option of redistricting. That is, find those pockets of Democratic oriented districts and combine them with a neighboring larger GOP district. In that way, those democrat voters and democratic delegates are "neutralized".

It worked well in the last elections and it was swept under the rug by the Dallas Morning News. So, why not?
