The Texas Rangers couldn't get past old nemesis Pedro Martinez Sunday night, losing to the Mets 4-2 in New York in the second game of the doubleheader. The loss dropped the Rangers to 35-36.

Generally unable to beat Pedro when he was a member of the Boston Red Sox, the Rangers picked up where they left off in 2004 when they last faced the ace. Martinez dominated the Rangers for six innings, giving up just two runs--one of them earned-- en route to his second victory of the season.

Rangers starter Kason Gabbard pitched decently but not quite good enough, lasting just over five innings, and giving up four runs off eight hits. Gabbard did give up the game-winning single to pinch hitter Robinson Cancel in the sixth, and dropped to 1-3 on the year.

The Rangers hitters were unable to get much on the Mets, although they did manage to score the game's first two runs. Michael Young started the game with an RBI single that scored Frank Catalanatto, while Josh Hamilton was able to single in Ian Kinsler in the third to make it 2-0 Texas.

The Rangers never seriously threatened after the third, however, managing just six hits and a single walk all game.
