— The Dallas Independent School District will increase the prices for student meals for the upcoming 2008-2009 school year.

New prices for students who pay full price will be $1 for breakfast and $1.50 for lunch. Both are up 25 cents from last year. Students who participate in the free and reduced lunch program will pay the same price as last school year, 30 cents for breakfast and 40 cents for lunch.

Students enrolled in Dallas ISD for the 2008-2009 school year may apply for free and reduced-price meal benefits. Household size and income criteria will be used to determine eligibility for free and reduced-priced benefits. Meal applications will be distributed to all students on the opening day of school, Monday, August 25, along with a letter of explanation to households.
