Heath City Council addresses rising electric rates

Energy costs are going up, and Heath officialdom must decide whether they're going to take it or fight back.

If electric rates continue to climb, perhaps the Heath folks could power "Old Sparky" with a hand-cranked generator.

DISCLAIMER: the City of Heath doesn't actually operate an electric chair, but if they did they might want to consider the hand-cranked option. It's earth-friendly!

When the Heath City Council meets in executive session on June 17 (7:30 p.m. at City Hall), they'll be cussing and discussing the latest rate increases proposed by Oncor Electric Delivery Company.

Of particular consideration will be whether or not the city will authorize intervention in the Public Utility Commission proceedings involving the rate increase, and whether they elect to join a coalition of municipalities known as "Alliance of TXU/Oncor Customers" to that end. Also on the talking agenda will be the advisability of soliciting expert opinions on the rate increase.

There will also be discussion regarding the appointment of a municipal court judge and an associate municipal court judge.

Board and commission appointments will be considered, and finally there will be a briefing regarding the November election schedule.
