UPDATED: City of Frisco looking into approves doggie park at BF Phillips

At its upcoming meeting on Tuesday, June 17, the Frisco City Council will consider two possible park projects (three times fast, I dare you):

Caddo increase

First, they're looking into expanding Caddo Trail, the park trail running along Stewart Creek, which as of now ends at the south end of the Stonebrook Estates subdivision. The planned extension will complete this trail loop from JC Grant Park on the south to Preston Road on the east and will help connect these subdivision and apartment complexes to the Frisco Athletic Center, Collin College and other destinations along Preston Road.

The city will appeal to mama Collin County for 50% of the funds needed by applying for the "Collin County Parks and Open Space Funding Assistance Program;" the rest will likely come from bonds or Frisco's park funds.

Dog park proposal

In canine news, the council will vote on whether or not to hire consultants Jacobs Carter and Burgess to use their expensive engineering degrees to size up BF Phillips Park and determine how/if a doggie park would be possible within the park and how much it would cost. The contract in question would be in the amount of $10,980.00.

Frisco has been working with various city and dog-loving groups for the past few years in exploring the option of developing a dog park. After the Master Plan Revision, the city will invite the residents near the proposed park to future meetings in order to ensure their input into the design and construction.

Finally, this meeting will also get a bit sentimental, as the city will formally accept the resignation of Nan Parker, who worked as the Frisco City Secretary for a whopping 23 years. Parker plans to officially retire at the end of June.
