Grand Prairie Police to get two new gang-fighting Chevy Tahoes
At its latest meeting on June 17th, the Grand Prairie City Council approved the following:
Two new gang-bangers
The council voted unanimously in favor of purchasing two Chevrolet Tahoes from Graff Chevrolet-Grand Prairie for a total cost of $60,408 (plus 10ยข). Like it sounds, the Grand Prairie Police G-G-G-G-G-ang Unit is a branch of the city's Criminal Investigations Division that deals with illegal activities involving suspects with gang affiliations. They also provide training programs to Grand Prairie schools and PTA groups.
Auto Wars
The council also cast two disparate votes over potential auto body shops within the city.
First, they voted to give a specific use permit for an Auto Body Shop to be built at 2377 Fort Worth Street. The spot ("site," if you're going to get all technical) is currently zoned Light Industrial (LI) District and is generally located at the southeast corner of Fort Worth Street and 24th Street. Meanwhile, an SUP for an Auto Paint and Body Shop to be built at 125 N.E. 26th Street was denied by a vote of 7 to 2. The site is currently zoned Planned Development-237 (PD-237) and is generally located north of Main Street on the west side of N.E. 26th Street.
