Fancy new Chick-fil-A opens in fancy University Park area of Dallas

21

Chick-fil-A opened an "In-Line" restaurant concept in at 6423 Hillcrest Avenue in the Hillcrest Village shopping center on May 21, featuring an expanded menu with more beverages and desserts as well as the chain's newly enhanced chicken strips and entree salads.

The Chick-fil-A chain, which began in shopping malls more than 40 years ago, has shifted a majority of its growth to stand-alone restaurants with drive-thru service, breakfast menu, and indoor playground.

The new University Park Chick-fil-A will offer not only the traditional menu but also a variety of "grab and go" offerings, including packaged items from the menu. Free Wi-Fi service will appeal to both university and business customers.

The new Chick-fil-A features an upscale interior concept that incorporates Chick-fil-A's new restaurant interior design, including warmer colors, a variety of imported glass tiles, wood veneers, a vaulted ceiling with exposed beams and rafters, and outdoor seating with arbors.

A dessert zone includes a sundae bar and a selection of fruit smoothies and floats. New beverage items include fruit, tea, and energy drinks.

The University Park restaurant is the second In-Line Chick-fil-A restaurant in Texas. The first opened in Greenville in November 2007 featuring Chick-fil-A's traditional menu.

New menu enhancements being rolled out chain-wide include a new Chargrilled and Fruit Salad with Harvest Nut Granola topping as well as the new Chick-fil-A Chick-n-Strips that are 50 percent larger than the previous offerings and are complemented by a new proprietary dipping sauce called Chick-fil-A Sauce. The Chick-fil-A Chicken Salad Sandwich also has undergone a makeover and is now served on a new premium wheatberry bread with green leaf lettuce. The chain's Cool Wraps now come in a new multi-grain flatbread.

Jeff White has been selected as the Chick-fil-A Operator of the new restaurant in University Park. Currently the franchised owner of Chick-fil-A's stand-alone restaurant at Central & Southwestern and the chain's location at NorthPark Center, White will continue to operate those locations as well as the new In-Line restaurant on Hillcrest Avenue. Of almost 1,000 Chick-fil-A franchised operators across the country, University Park resident White is among fewer than 15 chosen to operate three locations.

The Chick-fil-A on Hillcrest Avenue was the third Chick-fil-A restaurant to open in the Dallas-Fort Worth market in May. Two stand-alone restaurants opened earlier this month in Arlington and Dallas.

FYI to you Chick-fil-A jerks: article motivates me to go grab some chickens here in a few minutes, but I hate hate hate that y'all are closed on Sundays.

Many hangovers would have been complemented well with some tasty Chick-fil-A. =(

Pavel Lishin, says:

Yeah, I never want Chick-Fil-A except on Sundays - and if I do want one on a weekday, I'm instantly angry about the fact that I can't have it on Sunday, and skip it anyway.

Jerks.

If I had a dime for every time I've wanted to go to CFA on a Sunday, I'd have enough money to buy a sandwich on a weekday ;)

They miss out on tons of money by not being open, but then again they MAKE TONS OF MONEY through the week, so I guess it really doesn't matter to them...

Scott Doyle, says:

Collin, shouldn't every day be God's day?

More importantly, WOULDN'T JESUS WANT SOME TASTY CHICKENS ON HIS DAY?!

Jebus can have my CFA when he pries it from my cold dead hands!

Just kidding, I only patronize the place on Sundays.

TJ Callaway, says:

It is frustrating for customers, but having worked in restaurants for a long time myself, I think its great for the employees and in turn the customers. I have never been to a chick-fil-a and had bad or rude service from a burned out employee. I think there is a correlation.

Besides, what's wrong with a company doing something nice for thier employees and giving up some money in the process? Doesn't happen often..

TJ Callaway: Yeah, I'm sure having a day off made that wonderful turnaround.

For the record, if I were the lord of all creation, if I wanted some chicken and a restaurant was closed to honor me, I would smack 'em down so hard the universe would ring.

who said anything about sunday being God's day and the other days of the week not? It's simply The Sabbath, or "day of rest"

Brett Hoerner, says:

I never understood the "employees get a guaranteed day off" argument. I'm pretty sure all fast food employees get days off every week, they just might not land on a Sunday. Last I checked these companies are not fans of paying overtime, etc.

TJ Callaway, says:

Pavel, I am not saying that having Sundays off alone is what makes them better employees, I just think that is a contributing factor. They also pay thier employees above average for a fast food place which allows them to be more selective in thier hiring.

As for needing some chicken on a Sunday, get off your lazy butt and learn to use your grill, that is what Sundays are for!

TJ: I can use a grill, and I know how to cook chicken. But then hsould I not be allowed to complain about any experience I have at any sort of restaurant?

Don't answer that. Complaining is a hobby of mine.

Scott Doyle, says:

TJ, living on the 4th floor of an apartment building isn't exactly an optimal locale for grilling. And grilling while hungover isn't ideal.
