Summer hasn't slowed things down here at Pegasus News World Headquarters. In fact, our developers are working overtime on a fabulous new iPhone app that's so yummy I can barely contain my excitement. Keep an eye on our site if you want to be a beta tester.
Metro: Denton has a new mayor. Rumors about a massive downsizing at the Star-Telegram were true. West and Clear notes a curious lack of on-the-record communication between the mayor and Chesapeake, as well as streetcar possibilities in Fort Worth. For an explanation of the new master plan for Duncanville's Main Street, read Best Southwest Citizen.
Movies: Film guy John prepared for Sunday night's DFW IndieClub Gong Show by interviewing organizer Libby Mitchell and celebrity judge Jack E. Jett in the PegNews offices. On the eve of the opening of The Love Guru, we explore the long-standing Hollywood tradition of perpetuating racial stereotypes by counting down five classic examples of ethnic casting gone bad. And check the Movies tab on Friday for reviews of Get Smart, The Unforeseen, When Did You Last See Your Father? and Kit Kittredge: An American Girl.

Addison -- Arlington -- Dallas -- Lewisville -- Plano
On stage: Shawn spotlights John Garcia, founder of The Column and the star of Garland Summer Musicals' Damn Yankees. Mark-Brian Sonna reviews Dallas Summer Musicals' STOMP! Mike O. gives Shakespeare Dallas' Othello high marks.
Listen up: Death Cab For Cutie made a video while in Grand Prairie for their concert Tuesday. Erin reviewed Hayden at House of Blues. Brenna gives Fish Fry Bingo and The Robert Donahue Band a listen. Dallas drum circle organizer Eric Stuer died in a car accident. West and Clear reports on Green River Ordinance's latest (free) release. We also have video of The Liking Strikes covering The Beatles at Dada.
Best Bites: TG keeps tabs on the Next Food Network Star and answers the rhetorical question, "Is there such a thing as a healthy soft drink?"
Sports: Todd's Cupcheck brings new life to the tired salary cap discussion. Mark Teixeira's return to Arlington was underwhelming. The Frisco Thunder can't seem to get anything going, either. Also, FC Dallas has a new coach.
Schools: The rising cost of food has hit Dallas ISD school cafeterias. Quad C Theatre announced its impressive '08-'09 season. Southlake's Central Market is collecting supplies for students in need. The Catholic League is giving away thousands to deserving teachers.
The Biz: Roger Staubach is sitting pretty. Dallas and Houston have it goin' on. Intern Monica reports on club promoters catering to teens and sporting goods in Legacy.
