Clint Niosi keeps it real.

Local singer/songwriters Clint Niosi and Kristina Morland will celebrate the release of their respective debut albums with a CD release party and performance at the historic Rose Marine Theater in Fort Worth on Friday, June 27 at 8 p.m.

Clint’s album, The Sound of Dead Horses Beaten Against Cold Shoulders features lyrically heavy roots/folk/rock music covered with lush horn and string harmonies. The CD examines topics including, several versions of the afterlife, the subjective nature of truth, overactive idealism, and perseverance. The Sound... has been described by some as “Andrew Bird meets Magnetic Fields meets Led Zeppelin III”.

Kristina Morland’s album, Pidgin Music features stark contrasts and soaring vocals reminiscent of Joanna Newsom and Dolores O'Riordan. Pidgin Music is a tightly knit package of soulful and whimsical tunes. Kristina's voice is sure to sweep you away.

Both Clint and Kristina made guest appearances on each other’s album and look forward to performing those special selections live during the release. The CD release will feature performances by Kristina Morland, Clint Niosi (with full band), and DJ Marcosis (during the preshow and intermission). Clint’s live band will feature James Talambas (The Theater Fire) on piano and trumpet, Aaron Bartz on electric guitar, Boyd Dixon on drums (both of Tame..Tame and Quiet), Marcus Lawyer on bass (Shh…Top Secret), Nicole Amundsen on violin (formerly of SMU Orchestra), and Emma Hertz on cello (formerly of Peter and The Wolf).

The night will be filmed for DVD.

In a town filled beyond capacity with great talent, Kristina has an especially powerful gift, more than just rivaling her more-famous contemporaries to my ears.

I tend to hear melodies before absorbing lyrics, but hers has a beauty, a melancholy reminiscent of Ray Davies.

Get ye to a live show of hers at the earliest possibility, preferably Friday's cd release.

I was fortunate enough to interview her and score a live in-studio performance a couple weeks ago.

Go to http://www.goodshow.net for the MP3 and more.

Thanks.

The Trains at NorthPark Oh, no! Godzilla got into the Northpark train exhibit! But don't worry, the engineers will have it back up and running in time for your mall visit. And now, BEFORE the big holiday rush, is the best time to see them, before hundreds of drooling children take over the enclosure after Thanksgiving. More info
