White Rock Hills VITA volunteers score big ROI
They doubled last year's outcomes.
WHITE ROCK HILLS Robert Phillips from the Dixon Branch neighborhood reported the following outcomes to this year's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Center: Volunteers completed 338 tax returns for 301 taxpayers coming into our center. Additionally, four mobile clinics were provided to elderly and disabled individuals and families who couldn't come to our offices. The average income of participants was $17,051. Taxpayers received over $285,900 in refunds, of which $151,200 was for special low-income Earned Income Tax Credits and extra Child credits.
This does not include the payments via the Economic Stimulus Package for our elderly and disabled participants. So, overall return on volunteer's times probably exceeded $300,000. This doubles last year's outcomes. FRI thanks to our volunteers from Ernst & Young, Zion Lutheran Church, FRI Weed & Seed neighborhoods, and to New Hope Lutheran for providing a location for volunteers to prepare taxes for our residents.
