Hairspray has regenerated so much buzz in the last year, mainly due to John Travolta giving a really convincing portrayal as a woman in the movie musical last summer. It's time to get excited for this musical again. Thanks to Dallas Summer Musicals, the national tour is stopping by but only for one week only from June 24 - 29. Tickets can be purchased online or by calling 214-631-ARTS.

If you don't know, Hairspray is the winne of 8 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Book, Best Original Score, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Featured Actor, Best Costume Design, and Best Direction. It’s 1962 – the ‘50s are out and change is in the air. Baltimore’s Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart, has only one passion – to dance. She wins a spot on the local TV dance program, “The Corny Collins Show” and, overnight, is transformed from outsider to irrepressible teen celebrity. But can a trendsetter in dance and fashion vanquish the program’s reigning princess, win the heart of hearthrob Link Larkin, and integrate a television show without denting her ‘do? Only in Hairspray, based upon the New Line Cinema film written and directed by John Waters.

Make sure to watch the following clip to get you all hyped as you were last summer for the movie:
