NBC 5 in Dallas names Matt Barrie as weekend sports anchor-reporter
NBC 5 has named Matt Barrie as weekend sports anchor / reporter. Barrie is currently the weekend sports anchor at WLTX, the CBS affiliate in Columbia, South Carolina, where he has held the post for the past three years.
Barrie comes to the Dallas-Fort Worth area with an extensive sports-related background, with positions held in Wisconsin and Oklahoma. Barrie has been honored with a Oklahoma Association of Broadcaster's Award for journalism. He is a graduate of the Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism.
"We were impressed by Matt's eye for a story that went beyond game highlights and locker room interviews," said Susan Tully, NBC5 Vice President of Content Development.
Barrie will join NBC 5 Sports Director Newy Scruggs on August 1st.
