Office-furniture maker Coalesse expands Grand Prairie plant
GRAND PRAIRIE According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate as of May for Texas is 4.5 percent, so this story will be welcome news to Grand Prairie and surrounding-area residents.
Office-furniture maker Coalesse, a division of Michigan-based Steelcase, Inc., is hiring 70 additional employees at its Grand Prairie plant through July due to the closing of its California manufacturing plant.
An official stated that the California and the Texas plants were making similar type products and because Grand Prairie is so centrally located, it is economically feasible to combine the two plants.
