Duncanville High grad wins national debate tournament
Duncanville High School 2008 graduate Kevin Eaton earned the First Place trophy for Student Congress competition in the National Forensic League’s National Speech and Debate Tournament, held in Las Vegas in June. Kevin was selected as Most Outstanding Senator in the contest.
Topics on which he was required to make presentations were:
* tougher regulations against price gouging in the oil industry
* government subsidies for the development of alternative energyresources
* repeal of the Cuban Democracy Act (Cuban Embargo).
Kevin will attend Southern Methodist University this fall, where he plans to major in political science/honors. He has received a full-tuition scholarship from SMU, and through his performance at Nationals also received scholarships from the John C. Stennis Center for Public Service and Lincoln Financial Group.
