McKinney ISD approves new school zones
The new middle school zones will become effective for the 2008-2009 school year.
MCKINNEY The McKinney ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved a middle school student redistribution plan during the Regular Board meeting held on Monday, February 25. The new middle school zones will become effective for the 2008-2009 school year.
Current 7th grade students who will be entering the 8th grade for the 2008-2009 school year, and were rezoned to a different middle school than the school they currently attend, have the option to remain at their current middle school. Any 7th grade student impacted by the recent rezoning, and wishing to remain at their current middle school for their 8th grade year, will be required to complete a Request to Stay form. More detailed information about the Request to Stay form and process will be available at each middle school campus in the near future. The forms are not available at this time but more information will be sent out regarding the process for a request to stay.
McKinney ISD recognizes the difficulty of rezoning students and the emotional impact this can have on students, parents, and the community. This is particularly challenging in a fast-growth school district where rezoning occurs on a regular basis. The District does not expect to rezone secondary schools again for the next five years.
